If you have a dog, cat or any other kind of animal and you’re thinking of hiring a motorhome, campervanning is an amazing way to let them experience the world and bond with them.

Plan a Pet-Friendly Route

When planning your route, make sure to include stops at pet-friendly destinations, such as dog parks, pet-friendly restaurants, and campgrounds.

If you have a pet that needs a lot of exercise, it could also be a good idea to plan for regular stops so that they can regularly stretch their legs.

Get the Right Campervan

When choosing a campervan, consider the size of your pet and their needs. Make sure to choose a campervan with enough space for your pet to move around comfortably, as well as a place for them to sleep.

If you don’t have a motorhome yet, our Tartan Campervans are the perfect pet friendly vehicle: our campervans are insulated, comfortable and have space for you and your animal.

It can also help to acclimate your pet to the campervan before you leave and help them to feel more comfortable in their new surroundings. Bringing along their favourite toys can help with this!

Stay Supplied and Cool

For your journey, make sure humans and animals alike have plenty of food and water. It's definitely worth investing in a water bowl so that your pet can drink on the go and stay cool in the heat.

If you’re travelling in summer or somewhere hot, make sure to also keep your campervan well ventilated at all times while your pet is inside, and don’t leave them alone unattended.

Other supplies you may need depending on what animal you’re bringing could be a bed, a leash, poo bags or a litter box.

With a little planning and preparation, you can ensure that your campervan experience is a safe and fun experience that’ll you’ll both remember.
